New Paltz Rotary Club is proud to announce its participation in the President’s Challenge Scholarship program administered by the Ulster Community College Foundation. Here are some highlights of the program:

  • The New Paltz Rotary Club is sponsoring a full two-year scholarship for a student to attend Ulster Community College.
  • The recipient will be a student within the New Paltz Central School District that will benefit from mentoring and financial assistance. Recipients must be first generation college-bound students.
  • What makes this program unique is that the student recipient will be identified while they are still in eighth grade.
  • The New Paltz Rotary Club will work together with the New Paltz Central School District and the Ulster Community College Foundation to mentor this student and prepare them for Community College.
  • The student must maintain certain grade, attendance, and disciplinary standards throughout high school and participate in Ulster Community College events.
  • The Rotary Club-sponsored scholarship is one of five that will be awarded to New Paltz Central School District eighth graders during 2018.
  • The application process will be managed by the New Paltz Central School District.
  • In addition to this exciting new program, the New Paltz Rotary Club will continue to give two $500 scholarships to Ulster BOCES and one $1,000 “Service Above Self” scholarship to a New Paltz High School senior who shows outstanding dedication to service.
